No trip to Colombia is complete without visiting Zipaquirá and its renowned Salt Cathedral. This underground church was carved into a salt mine 180 meters (590 feet) below the surface. Begin with a tour of this unique site, known for its historical and cultural significance. The Muiscas, an indigenous population, first utilized the area's salt wealth. Today, it's a tourist and pilgrimage spot. After exploring the Salt Cathedral, you'll discover the town of Zipaquirá, with its charming Spanish Colonial architecture and pedestrian-friendly environment. The city center offers restaurants, colonial houses, museums, and more. Enjoy lunch at Andres Carne de Res, a popular Colombian restaurant before returning to your hotel.
We'll start with a short van ride to the cable car station on Monserrate Mountain for panoramic views. Then it's over to the Paloquemao Market, followed by a tour of the historic La Candelaria neighborhood with its colonial architecture. Lunch will be at Casa Vieja, Origen Bistro, or Son de Los Grillos, before a visit to either the Botero Museum or Gold Museum before heading back to relax at your hotel.
Check out of your hotel for your private transfer back to the airport and your short flight to Armenia in western Colombia. Upon arrival, we'll pick you up and take you to Hacienda Bambusa. This spacious mountain hacienda offers a tranquil escape. Just 30 minutes from Armenia city, Hacienda Bambusa is part of the Coffee Triangle, Colombia's major coffee production area. Guests can relax indoors or outdoors, taking in mountain views, bamboo forests, and poolside gardens.
Hacienda Bambusa features a historic house over 100 years old, set amidst coffee plantations. The white facade and red wood accents capture classic local architecture. With spacious corridors, cool walls, and a vibrant flower-filled garden, the house exemplifies the region's style. Enjoy a guided house tour, wander through the coffee plantations, and end with a coffee tasting using the farm's own produce. Then it's back to Hacienda Bambusa to relax.
More coffee today as we take a wider tour of the Salenta and Corcoro Valleys. You'll explore various coffee farms and enjoy some light hiking with stunning views.
Experience the life of a local cowboy as you ride through a nature reserve near Hacienda Bambusa. Guided by an experienced rider, you'll explore forests, farmland, and bamboo groves. Discover pineapple crops, cattle, and impressive buffaloes amidst stunning landscapes with merging rivers as you explore the trails.
